I love how your site always reminds me of home, wherever in the world I may be at that moment.

Yes, thankfully I never go anywhere.

maybe I’ll ask my boss to hire you as my parkdale and area photographer for when I’m gone.

Excellent! I will forward you my day rate.

Still checking this site almost every day - inspired every time. Excellent stuff.

On a side note, I have been shooting digital since I started in photography, but would like to give film a shot - pun intended! I found the pictures you took with the AE-1 particularly impressive somehow and my plan is to pick one up ASAP. One question though - which film do you favour? If you use many types, i’m trying to emulate the following appearance …

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Hi Alastair, thanks and the AE-1 is a nice choice. You can pick one up on eBay fairly cheaply (look for an AE-1P actually for a bit more functionality).

Both of those images were Agfa Optima II 100 film. In my experience it has strong reds and yellows and tends to be fairly saturated overall.

Ross has me on Fuji NPZ now, I’m hooked, even at $60 for a 5 roll pack. You should give it a shot Davin, you might like playing with it.

I’m just in the midst of my second roll of Fuji NPC which seems nice so far. What’s the deal with NPZ?
