One disadvantage to not using a digital camera most of the time is that I couldn’t come back from yesterday’s Toronto Photoblogger Meet-up with any instant shots of the geeky good times. I did take a few shots with the AE-1 but those won’t surface for a while still.

Here’s a rundown of who attended:

Rannie : Photojunkie
Gayla : Making Happy
Davin : Low Resolution
Jon : Groundglass
Zee : I’ll call you Zee
Chris : Free Delivery
Chris : Visual Palate
Simon : Three Apples High
Carrie : Delineated
Matt : The Photo Mat
Natalie : Luminescent
Matt : The Narrative
Alison : Hello and Lala Land
David : This Boy is Toast

There was some talk, some of it from me, of making the meet-ups monthly. It was good to see everyone and meet some new people and overdose on camera talk big time. Chris was talking about doing something at his place with projections and drinks and such so maybe next month before Toronto freezes over.

Oh and here’s a funny picture taken by Jon at Ground Glass — a pricey tableload of cameras new and old.

This is really nice, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It was nice to see you yesterday, and thanks again for the buttons, they rock!

chris – 20 September 2004 @ 11am

oh, the buttons do indeed rock.

and this is a fine photo. where was it taken?

Davin – 20 September 2004 @ 11am

Thanks I’ll have to make some new ones for the next meet-up. Possible buttons: “Yes, I am a Photographer”, “Photoblogist”, “I ♥ Digital”, “I take the pictures”, “I ♥ E-6″, “I ♥ Rodinol”… buttons are fun.

The votives are from Notre Dame in Montreal.

chris – 20 September 2004 @ 11am

“I ♥ ƒ-8″
“I ♥ light leaks”
“I ♥ rangefinders”
“your blog changed my life”

Davin – 20 September 2004 @ 11am

ƒ-8? No way Chris. I have to have something faster!

The other three are great though.

jonne – 20 September 2004 @ 11am

Heheh “your blog changed my life”.

Seems like the Fed is just at home with this type of photos where the light already is yellowish. I see you got the “black belt” on the left.

Lala – 20 September 2004 @ 12pm

I had a great time last night. I’m definitely into getting together monthly.

Brandon Stone – 20 September 2004 @ 1pm

Photoblogist! Hah.

Michael – 20 September 2004 @ 1pm

I will actually show up at a different one. I fell into the trap of lazing about all day and didn’t even think about the photoblog thing until I got an email from davin about it, far too late.

Natalie – 21 September 2004 @ 12am

The buttons were a really great idea. Thanks again for those!

Your photo today is really beautiful. Very warm, and the light of the candles is lovely.

~great light and orangeish hue here~

Jessyel Ty Gonzalez – 21 September 2004 @ 1pm

Unbelievable. The lighting and mood are so surreal and powerful. Just a great job.

sam – 21 September 2004 @ 4pm

Ha! I recognise 2 maybe more of my cameras in that lot.

nice pic, good colour.

I heart emulsion

Nice photo, Davin — and great update — wish I could have made it — I had a ’special’ CD cut for the occasion — lead cut: THE CAMERA EYE … I’ll have to save it for next time!

I’m happy to hear you have 3 rolls in the hopper… can’t wait to see some new stuff!
