The second I looked at this one … I thought of a torture chair… strapped in by duct tape… how weird is that?

Great colors… and I’d love to know the story behind this image… pitcher of water … glass 3/4 full… makes me wonder…

Love this shot.

I wish that this shot was a bit sharper but it was taken in poor light with a fairly slow lens.

Recently in Toronto, there was a group artshow called Alley Jaunt which featured a wide range of artists in backalley “gallery” spaces.

This scene was in the back of one of the garages. I should have shot more or at least taken more time but I felt a little bad taking pictures of this stuff instead of the guy’s art.

Now that I think of it. The artist was showing oil portraits of guys who had been beaten up. So maybe the duct tape on the chair is actually significant.

The tape doesn’t seem to be covering up any rips in the vinyl.

Funny how it kind of seems abandoned, but the pitcher and glass of water make it obvious that it’s not. It’s a really interesting scene, I think because it’s somewhat mysterious. It makes me wonder who was sitting in that chair and drinking the water.

Ah, college….

about time you took a picture like this.

this is my current fave of yours.

easy. hands down.

great.

Davin – 11 September 2004 @ 11pm

Ian, really? It’s always so subjective. I almost didn’t post this because it doesn’t meet up with the picture I’d hoped to take at the time. I tend to only take one shot most of the time so I was disaapointed that this wasn’t “there”.

What a great photo. I’m not sure the duct tape adds anything, the old furniture is what I find so great.

matto – 12 September 2004 @ 9am

what ian said.

like many of my favourites of yours, this one feels like an eerie kind of evidence of something equal parts vaguely sinister and achingly banal. or something. in any case it tells a story, and has a mood, and is very interesting. ‘forlorn object stories’ indeed.

great nostalgic pallette as well.

andrew – 12 September 2004 @ 1pm

The duct tape definitely adds something.

Holy hell - she’s escaped..!

Great capture…

Lovely… And are those pitchforks in the backyard (through the window)? Hmm.. seems oddly appropriate here.
