Photo taken with a Canon AE-1

This is one of a few photos taken on the set of “Moss,” a film directed by Zachary Derhodge. This shot was taken on what was an particularly exciting day for Gayla and I as Jayne Eastwood, Gerard Parkes, and Sean McCann were on-set.

We’ve been a fan of Jayne’s especially for years and it was great talking with her and seeing how much she embodies some of the characters she has played while still being very individual.

this is a great pic. when was this taken? during sean and jayne’s little lunch break?

it is a wicked shot for sure. nice to see a shot with a person in it. i wonder how this would have turned out with mellow yellow fed…

Yeah, this was taken when Jayne and Sean were having a quick rehearsal during the break. I got a few photos but it was a sort of frenetic scene in low light so I had lots of motion blur on most shots.

I like this one quite a bit and it is nice to have a shot of a person. I wouldn’t have been able to get this close with the Fed5. This was with the 28-80mm lens.

do you often take stills? just wondering. i was talking to someone who said that some stills photographers put their cameras in a box of sorts to quiet the shutter. i’ve been wondering since what those look like . . .

e.ku >> i know that a lot of on-set photographers simply ‘blimp’ their cameras in some sort of thick housing. i’d imagine its par for the course on moderate to big budget films.

I’ve never taken film stills before this so I was basically just mindfully of where I was and what was happening when I was taking shots. This shot of Jayne was during a rehearsal so sound wasn’t an issue. I had particularly asked her and Sean McCann if they minded me taking the shots while they were working through the scene.

“zd” knows better since he was the director ;) The only other experience I’ve had on a film set was acting as an extra in a friend’s video shoot where I bowled for 16 hours straight.
